Southern Pennsylvania District 100th Anniversary of Women's Work Quilt, 1985
[Back to Formatted Version]
Brief Description: White, appliqued and embroidered quilt created for the 100th anniversary of women's work in the Southern Pennsylvania District. Each square represents a different congregation in the district and includes the name of a woman or names of women significant to the work of the church. The squares were contributed by the individual congregations, and the quilting was completed by Romaine Myers, a member of West York Church of the Brethren. Theresa Cocklin Eshbach organized the project. The quilt was offered for sale at a silent auction, and Martha Gibble Cocklin, mother of Theresa Cocklin Eshbach, made the winning bid. In 2006, Theresa's husband, Warren Eshbach, donated the quilt to the college's Young Center for Anabaptist and Pietist Studies, and it was placed in the High Library.
