Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection includes two boxes of interview transcripts, correspondence, informative notes, and research materials shared with Dr. Kraybill by Ben Riehl. Documents in this series span the years 2005-2021. Topics covered include youth groups, cultural practices and ideas, and relationships between the Amish and other groups.

Collection Historical Note

Benuel S. Riehl is an Old Order Amish businessman living in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with his wife, Mary, with whom he has five children. Riehl has been a friend of Dr. Donald B. Kraybill since 2005 and has helped him with his writing on the Amish through informative interviews and providing feedback on manuscript drafts.
